Choir – our performance in Southampton!

18 Nov

This week we won a competition with The Breeze FM radio station. We didn’t find out that we had won until Tuesday afternoon and then we had to learn 3 songs off by heart by Thursday night! We worked really hard and sounded great.

On Thursday 17th November we performed on a stage in Southampton City centre for The Breeze FM and sang to an audience made up of lots of our parents and other people who were passing by – the crowd grew larger as each song passed!

We sang:
Ring Those Bells,
Away in a Manger
It’s Christmas!

We also got a glow stick each and a flag from the radio station. Hopefully our song will be played on the radio between now and Christmas – so listen out for us!

Girls Football – Hampshire Cup 2nd Round

12 Nov

On Thursday this week we played our 2nd round Hampshire Cup match against Blackfield Primary. This was a close game and we took a 2-0 lead at half time through two goals by Amy A. In the second-half, Blackfield came back and with just 8 seconds to go they equalised to send the game into extra time.

Both teams played well as the light faded and we ended up winning 5-3 in the end to make it through to the quarter final, but…

There is an odd number of teams in the competition so we have been given a bye through to the semi-final instead. So we get a break from the cup until March! The girls were fantastic and they played superbly throughout. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

Girls Football Vs Freegrounds

14 Jul

The girls’ team played their final game of the season this week against Freegrounds Junior and were unlucky to lose 3-1. We played well and Olivia in particular was fantastic in defence but a few unlucky goals led to the defeat. Megan was especially brave as she suffered a nose-bleed when the ball hit her in the face and she had to go and get medical attention!

The main thing, as always, is that they enjoyed themselves and had fun. I’m very proud of them and they kept their heads up the whole way through. Thanks girls, it’s been a lot of fun this year!

Good luck Chloe , Sophie, Will, Tom and Megan who have been asked to go on to represent the district at a county event on Tuesday!

Girls Football 3-0

10 Jun

Today St John’s Year 6 girls’ team travelled to Herne Junior School in Petersfield for a friendly match. We took 7 girls and they had about 18 so we ‘borrowed’ some of their players for a little while. Hannah, Ella and Naomi played brilliantly for us and helped us to win 3-0. Jess Wh scored 2 goals (without having any disallowed for a change) and Jess We got the other goal. We’re due to play Herne again very soon!

Well done girls, I’m very proud of you :-)
