A trip to the BETT show

On the 11th of January 2012 Sam, Will, Grace and Sophie (all class 11) went to the BETT show in Olympia, London. We left at eight o’clock in a minibus with three girls from Titchfield Primary School and soon arrived at BETT. There was a massive queue but luckily we were able to skip it because we had our own IDs. Unfortunately, the Titchfield children had to line up in the queue for about an hour! Next we had a look around all the stands, and got lots of freebies (free stuff) and chocolate and sweets. We even met Moby at the Brainpop stand! We played on Kinect at the Microsoft stand and then went back to Scholastic so Sam and I could do a presentation about Animoto and Popplet. After meeting the director of Zondle- where we collected even more freebies!- we went to the Google stand so Grace and Sophie could do their presentation. There they were handing out smoothies in mini test tubes so me and Sam took eight each! Then we listened to Grace and Sophie’s presentation on Google Sites. Next we had lunch- paninis and Coke- and sat down to eat it. Then we were interviewed on live radio about I.C.T in our school. Then we had another look around at the stands, including Manga High until Mr Addison had to do a presentation on Purple Mash and Brother. Then we were given a phone call that Prince Andrew wanted to meet us! We were shocked. We rushed there and talked to him. Then we left and got in the minibus and went home…

What a fantastic day you had. Imagine! Meeting a real Prince! I am not surprised that you were shocked. I went to the BETT Show two years ago and I loved it too. Were you nervous about presenting to people? It is a very good skill to have.
    Well done all of you.

  3. Sally Grandy says:

Wow – you should all be very proud of yourselves, I am so impressed that you got to meet Prince Andrew too (Come on spill the beans what is he really like?). You are real techno heroes keep up the good work!

I saw you all present at BETT and I was really impressed with how professional and clear you were. I was amazed at how well Grace and Sophie were able to build and explain Google Sites – well done. You should all be really proud of yourselves and I’m sure Mr Addison is proud of you too. I’ve got lots of ideas now to try in my school in Thatcham and can’t wait to get started!

  6. Mr Stuart says:

Congratulations! I went to BETT on Friday and people were still talking about how great ‘Mr Addisons pupils’ were! It’s terribly nerve wracking presenting to all those people. I would have been petrified! You should all be very proud of yourselves.
